Console spending up 52%.
Activision’s decision to return the Call of Duty franchise to its World War 2 setting has paid off for the company, with Call of Duty: WWII topping the US video game sales charts for November 2017.
Not only did it come out on top for November, according to The NPD Group, but Call of Duty: WWII is now the best selling game of 2017. It’s also the best selling game of the last 12 months.
Overall, spending on software was up 19 percent over the same period last year, with hardware spending up a whopping 52 percent, helped along by Nintendo Switch, which has now sold 10 million units.
While Nintendo Switch passed a milestone last month, the top-selling console by units was PlayStation 4, while Xbox One “drove the highest dollar sales” for hardware. Basically, everyone’s a winner in November 2017.
Here are the top-selling games of November 2017, according to NPD:
- Call of Duty: WWII
- Star Wars: Battlefront II 2017
- Assassin’s Creed: Origins
- NBA 2K18
- Madden NFL 18
- Super Mario Odyssey
- FIFA 18
- Need for Speed: Payback
- Destiny 2
- Pokemon: Ultra Sun
The best selling consoles for October 2017 were Nintendo Switch and Super NES Classic, while the best-selling game was Super Mario Odyssey [Correction: Nintendo reported it was the best-selling game, NPD reported Shadow of War was], which fell to number 6 in November. However, NPD results only include physical copies for Super Mario Odyssey.
