“We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun.”
Former American Gods co-showrunner Bryan Fuller is developing the pilot for the TV adaptation of Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount TV president Amy Powell revealed Fuller is currently working with Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice on the pilot. However, it’s not yet known if Fuller will stay on as showrunner.
“We bought 11 novels as part of the Vampire Chronicles initiative,” Powell said. “Bryan Fuller is working with Anne Rice and [her son] Chris, who are writing the pilot. We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun.”
Paramount Television and Anonymous Content acquired the rights to Vampire Chronicles last year. Rice intends to create an ongoing TV series similar to Game of Thrones, with The Vampire Lestat being the starting point for the show.
Fuller recently exited the Starz drama American Gods as showrunner along with Bryan Green. The pair were also the creators of the show and reports suggest Fuller and Green left the series due to creative differences with producer FremantleMedia.
