Pennywise is now one rich clown.
IT has reached another major box office milestone, grossing $700.2 million worldwide.
Deadline reports the movie recently grossed $19.2 million in Japan through Thursday, which has helped IT pass the $700 million mark. The figure is especially impressive considering the film has not been released in China.
The movie’s domestic box office total now sits at $327.5 million and $372.7 million internationally, with the top foreign markets being the UK ($42.5 million), Germany ($35.4 million), and Mexico ($27.6 million).
IT has broken quite a few records since being released in early September last year. The movie has eclipsed The Exorcist as the highest-grossing horror film of all time, and holds the record for the biggest opening for the horror genre in the US. IT is also one of the top 10 grossing domestic films of 2017.
A sequel is already in development, with Stephen King’s IT: Chapter 2 opening in theaters on September 6, 2019.
