Make no bones about it, these dogs came to play!

Bear, a 16-week old American Staffordshire Terrier / Foxhound playing in his rookie year in the prestigious Puppy Bowl, has been officially named the Puppy Bowl XIV MVP. Hailing from Virginia Beach, Bear helped his team put the competition into hibernation as part of the 2018 Starting Line-Up at this year’s Puppy Bowl.

The 14th year of Puppy Bowl pitted champion against chomp’ion, as last year’s prizewinning Team Fluff returned to try and send former two-time champion Team Ruff back to the locker room with their tails between their legs again. Last year’s spanking of 93 to 38 was rough on the Ruffs, but these dogs weren’t about to just lay down and play dead in the face of a challenge from the new alpha dogs.

The heralded hound who took home this year’s MVP award winner (Most Valuable Puppy,) Bear kept his nose to the turf and his paws on the ground as he ran regal touchdown runs with the grace of an Obedience School valedictorian. While other dogs scrapped and scampered about as if unaware of the game at play, Bear trotted the whole length of the field for one of his two puppy Touchdowns at the tail-end of the first half. His teammate Sally also gave chase in the MVP running with two TDs of her own, putting big points up on the board to match Sally’s big Coonhound ears. On the Ruff side, J-Paw showed that Miniature Poodles can score maximum points with two TDs early in the game. The 2018 Puppy Bowl was a real tug-of-war between Team Ruff and Team Fluff, with each side refusing to give up territory, and the score was matted up through most of the game.

Final Score: 52 to 47, and the Team Fluff ‘Yellow Yellers’ are back-to-bark winners, once again taking the Puppy Bowl Lombarki Trophy.

Each and every one of these canine competitors left it all on the field in this year’s big game. And in the end, no pup was left out in the cold, as Animal Planet found adoptive parents for the stars of the event. Puppy Bowl XIV was one for the Hound Hall of Fame. Stay tuned to IGN for more information on Bear as it becomes apparent.
