Robert Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriguez are teaming up for the original scripted VR series, The Limit.
STX Entertainment’s VR division STXsurreal has announced it wrapped production on the first-person POV action series co-written, directed, and produced by Robert Rodriguez. The Limit will premiere on STX’s pay-per-experience VR channel SURREAL, which is launching as an app on VR headsets later this year.
The Limit is built from the ground-up as a native VR experience and is being produced in a new cinematic VR format. STX promises to bridge the gap between traditional widescreen and 360-degree video with this new series. The story follows Michelle Rodriguez as a genetically enhanced weapon of mass destruction hunting down her creators. Racer Max co-wrote The Limit with Robert Rodriguez.
“By assembling entertainment’s most sought after writers, directors, and actors we have a shot at changing the VR industry, and the combination of Robert and Michelle is a perfect example of what STX is cooking up,” Andy Vick said, co-president of STXsurreal. “It’s one hell of a ride.”
Robert Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriguez have previously worked together on several different projects, including Machete, Machete Kills, and the upcoming Alita: Battle Angel. For more on Alita, which has recently been delayed for five months, check out IGN’s breakdown of the movie’s first trailer.
