This page covers how to unlock special armor in Monster Hunter World that makes your character look exactly like Ryu from Street Fighter, regardless if your avatar is male or female. This will also change your voice to sound like Ryu’s.
The first round of the Event Quest needed to unlock Ryu is only available to those with Street Fighter V or Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition saved data on the PlayStation 4. This quest will be available to all players on both PS4 and XB1 in the future, but dates are unspecified.
To unlock Ryu’s complete armor set, you’ll have to complete the following quest, which rewards 1-2 SFV Tickets each time. You need 7 SFV Tickets to unlock Ryu’s Complete Armor Set.
- Down the Dark, Muddy Path
- Available: Feb. 15 @ 4PM PT – Mar. 1 @ 4PM PT.
You can accept the quest from the Arena Lass at the Gathering Hub under the Challenges Menu. It requires you to defeat a giant Barroth in the Arena, using one of the following weapons:
You can cart 9 times, so you should be able to defeat the Barroth solo, but the quest is designed for two players.
If you think this will play like a normal Barroth hunt, think again. This monster’s massive size drastically changes its hitboxes and range, requiring you to change your strategy. We recommend using the Heavybowgun and teaming up with another Heavybowgun user – both sets come with poison, sleep, and paralysis knives and ammo and traps.
If you don’t have saved data, you can still join someone else’s Down the Dark, Muddy Path quest. (Note: to join Arena Quests, you need to talk to the Arena Lass in the Gathering Hub.)
EditHadoken and Shoryuken Gestures
These iconic Street Fighter gestures don’t come for free with Ryu’s set. Find them under Add-On Content for Monster Hunter World in PlayStation Store.
- Street Fighter Hadoken: $3.99
- Street Fighter Shoryuken: $3.99
You can also buy a Street Fighter Stamp Set for $1.99.
These gestures do a small amount of damage, and you can equip them even without Ryu’s armor set equipped.
