“I think this movie’s, like, just a fun, summer film.”
Donald Glover thinks fans are going to enjoy the tone of the upcoming Solo movie.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Glover, who plays young Lando Calrissian in Solo, said the upcoming Star Wars film is more fun than any other entry in the franchise because fans already know the fates of the main characters.
“I think it’s just a lot more fun,” Glover said. “All the Star Wars [movies] are really fun but I think this movie, we know what’s going to happen, we know they’re not going to die, ya know?” As such, the cast and crew are allowed to enjoy themselves a bit more. The real focus in Solo, says Glover, is shedding more light on Han Solo, Lando, Chewbacca and other beloved Star Wars characters’ pasts.
“We know, kind of, what happens, but how we got there, I guess, is the crux of it,” Glover said. “So we’re allowed to have a lot more fun than I think the other movies where you have to deal with a lot of the lineage in what’s going to happen. I think this movie’s, like, just a fun, summer film. I’m really excited about it. It’s really cool.”
Solo opens in theaters on May 25. For more on the film, find out what character Iron Man director Jon Favreau will be voicing. Also be sure to check out the movie’s latest poster, action figures, and the Lando comic miniseries which ties into Solo.
