Opening in theaters on August 2, 2019.
The live-action Dora the Explorer film from Michael Bay gets a release date.
THR reports the movie is opening in theaters on August 2, 2019. James Bobin is directing from a script by Muppets writer Nick Stoller. Bay will be producing through his production company Platinum Dunes with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
No word yet on who’ll be playing Dora. But reports last year suggested the character won’t be seven, but will instead be a teenager who has moved to the city to live with her cousin Diego. The original animated Nickelodeon series ran for 172 episodes from 2000 until 2014. It follows seven-year-old Dora going on adventures with her monkey Boots.
