Charlize Theron spills the beans.
Atomic Blonde star Charlize Theron has confirmed that a sequel is in the works.
“We are definitely developing an Atomic Blonde 2,” she said on Watch What Happens Live. Theron was asked whether she would consider the 007 role after Chris Hemsworth commented that the actress “should be the next Bond.”
After starring together in Snow White and the Huntsman, Hemsworth told W Magazine that Theron could “beat the sh*t out” of him and “most villains out there,” saying she “embodies every ounce of strength and nobility and dignity and integrity that [James Bond] should have. She’s smart as hell. She’s physically able.”
Theron said that Hemsworth’s comments were “super flattering” but that there’s “nothing like that” in the works.
Atomic Blonde hit theaters last summer, with an opening weekend that beat John Wick’s debut. We called it “one of the best action films of the year” in our review.
Charlize Theron cites ’80s music, Sigourney Weaver in Alien, and the team of stunt performers she had around her as influencing her take on the character of Lorraine Broughton.
