The Pixar sequel topped recent big hitters like Thor Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Incredibles 2 brought in an estimated $18.5 million at the domestic box office last night.
Deadline reports that set a new preview night record for an animated movie, flying past Finding Dory’s $9.2 million Thursday night haul back in 2016. The latter also holds the top spot for domestic opening weekend for an animated movie with $135 million.
That standing could be overtaken by Incredibles 2, which has been tracking to make $140 million this weekend.
It’s not just animated movies that Incredibles 2 is topping though. The Pixar sequel’s preview night also beat other big hitters from the past couple of years, including Beauty and the Beast ($16.3 million), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming ($15.4 million) and Thor: Ragnarok ($14.5 million).
