Welcome to the Purge.
Halloween Horror Nights, the annual nighttime event held at Universal Studios resorts, is receiving a haunted maze based on The First Purge for their Hollywood location.
As reported by Forbes, this haunted maze is modeled after The First Purge film, which will come alive as the Purge surges across the theme park in its inaugural outing. It will reportedly place guests “at the heart of a controversial sociological experiment empowered by the New Founding Fathers of America.”

Another maze, based on the cult horror classic Trick ‘r Treat, will also be coming to Universal Studios Hollywood as well as Universal Studios Florida. It will reportedly transport guests to the suburban town of Warren Valley, Ohio and will revel in sadistic Halloween traditions. A Trick ‘r Treat “scare zone” was also present during last year’s Halloween Horror Nights.
The First Purge maze has only been confirmed for Universal Studios Hollywood, meaning it’s unclear if it’s coming to Universal Studios Florida in Orlando as well. However, supernatural mazes based on Stranger Things have been confirmed for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida this year. Other properties coming to the Orlando location include Revenge of Chucky and Killer Klowns From Outer Space.
Halloween Horror Nights takes place select nights between September 14 and November 3 at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida.
Last year’s Halloween Horror Nights featured mazes based on Saw, The Shining, and many other horror films. If you’re curious what the event is like, take a look at our experiences with Halloween Horror Nights last year.
Warner Bros. Pictures also recently announced Arkham Asylum and IT themed “dark mazes” for this year’s Horror Made Here: A Festival of Frights studio tour.
