Allan Ungar and his Nathan Drake star swung by our live stream.
Actor Nathan Fillion and director Allan Ungar appeared on IGN Live at Comic-Con 2018 on Thursday to promote their new Uncharted fan film, which has taken the internet by storm since it was posted online July 16.
One question fans have had about the film is what Uncharted game developer Naughty Dog would think of Ungar and Fillion’s unofficial movie treatment of their franchise.
According to Ungar, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive: “Amy Hennig, who I guess created the characters, she tweeted me. And she thought it was fantastic. It warmed her heart to see this 13 years later. Said ‘our baby,’ something like that.”
Ungar continued, “Neil Druckmann, who’s now running Naughty Dog, also put a heart. The former head of Naughty Dog. When you get their support and their praise it means a lot.” “It makes you feel good,” Fillion added.
The fifteen-minute fan film — which also stars Avatar’s Stephen Lang as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Mircea Monroe (Episodes) as Elena Fisher, and Geno Segers (Banshee) as the villain — follows Drake on a quest to find the lost treasure of the Flor de la Mar. Fillion underwent an extensive training regimen to play Drake and did many of his own stunts for the short.
Fillion and Ungar’s short film was produced independently of the official feature film version in development at Sony Pictures, which has Spider-Man’s Tom Holland attached to play a young Nathan Drake.
